I bought a bunch of these for my Saab without researching. I now find that many people say to avoid them. Should I send them back?

When I bought my 735i the owner included a set of ÜRO hoses in the spare parts pile that came with the car.

They seemed like high-quality pieces so I installed them. They gave me no trouble in the few years they were installed, but I did have to trim one to fit.

ÜRO is a brand I typically avoid... But they're hoses.

if they are coolant hoses or brake hoses I wouldn't trust them.

Generally very poor quality and best avoided. Watch out buying B&A for Euro cars they are repackaging some Uro stuff also. If its a keeper I wouldn't want that stuff in my car.

My E36's valve cover breather hoses are URO brand... Should I be worried?

They're PCV hoses... I was having a little stir, just to poke fun at the BITOG OCD mentality (myself included).

I'll certainly keep it in mind for future. The HEPU metal water pump I installed years ago came with a good history from the Volvo forums, so I guess they can't be wrong.

Sorry ET the thread is getting a bit full with other peoples hoses I sort f forgot you were the OP.
If the hoses are EPDM rubber they should be okay, it should be marked right on the hose.

I had Gates radiator hoses (upper & lower) and Uro heater hoses (One in, one out) waiting for installation.

I actually sent a letter to Gates mentioning my situation. Gates answered stating their hoses were the best you could by and that "other less familiar names" were to be avoided. He didn't cite the name Uro though I had. He didn't have to.

I sent the Uro heater hoses back and got OEM for my Volvo. Kira

No EPDM markings anywhere.

Most OEM today use EPDM hoses so they last a long time, OE may or may not have EPDM marked on the hose and most aftermarket have the mark if it is, assume it isn't unless it specifies different in the product description.
You can use them but I wouldn't expect OE lifespan.

This one has it marked on the hose and in the description.

This one has it marked on the hose but not in the general product description but look at the gates site and it is, it is also marked on the hose I know because I bought one locally.

Unless I can confirm the material is the same EPDM as used by the OE I buy locally where I can check it out. Buyig high quality parts has almost become a detective job there is so much garbage out there.

I looked into individual hoses, and it's not so simple. Some are actually made in the U.S., others Thailand. I wonder who the American supplier is.

If one of the hoses is made in USA its probably a Gates or Dayco and that's okay. The other who knows, it could be from a reputable company like Bando who has a big plant there or just as likely whoflungdung inc in a backroom work house somewhere in Bangkok.
Try looking up by part interchange numbers.

You hijacked ET16's thread.
The OP didn't indicate which hoses he bought.
My response was clearly directed to him. (RE: ET16). Not you.
"little stir" ??? WTH? Poke fun somewhere else....
