I have made this same rant before but their logistics drives me crazy..I have the UPS app that allows me to track my delivery and today literally the truck was in front of my house for about 30 seconds as I ran to open the garage door and then pulled away and down the street before the door fully opened..I thought he was going to drop another package at the neighbors and then come back..instead he headed west and hit several neighborhoods then started coming back east so I thought he would stop but instead went back into a bigger neighborhood where he had been previously and then headed east clear on the other side of town..I get the notification that my package is still going to be delivered but watching this trucks route it has driven several hours just randomly driving around with no rhyme or reason..literally just burning fuel and chalking up overtime for the driver....no wonder shipping rates are going up. seriously looking at the map and the driver's random just driving around is crazy. literally almost like it was a joke or something. UPS used to be good but I swear they need some logistic lessons from Amazon..Rant over.

There is not chalking up overtime or driving around with no rhyme or reason. This is what the computer makes UPS drivers do. They need to follow it. I’m not joking.

Don't try to make sense out of something you don't know about.

Maybe the driver had to take his break, go somewhere he/she could use the bathroom.. And no delivery app should pinpoint a drivers whereabouts so a thief can place a cheap online order and track a driver on the move so packages can get stolen.

so it has gone from expected delivery 9:15 to 11:30 to 9:00PM just a rough estimate the driver has logged at least 30 extra miles lol

it is the UPS app so not sure what to say..it is accurate as when it showed the truck in front of my house it was indeed there and I watched drive away and watched drive past again.

Did you get your package?
no now it says delivery expected by 9PM..originally said 9:15-11:30am a $2300 set of reservoir shocks that I was hoping to get installed today. if it was piddly stuff I wouldn't really care....

I work at UPS so I'm somewhat biased.
must drive you crazy knowing whoever is routing your deliveries apparently has no clue how to be efficient. I actually was going to ask the driver when he finally gets here why he kept driving by without delivering..like I said the crazy thing is driving way west and then wayback east and then going into neighborhoods he has already been delivering at. I wish I could overlay the route map down it would make you shake your head for sure especially being an employee.

I'm a first class master tech and work on semi trucks LNG, CNG and diesel. I dislike mechanics that want easy brainless work and don't want anything challenging.

what is the latest residential delivery?

Typically 9 PM where I'm at. If a driver can't finish his her route by 9 PM, they usually have another driver who finished early meetup and take some packages from the driver running heavy so they'll get delivered that day.

UPS has and is going through a change to downsize since we can't compete against low paid third party drivers Amazon uses.

It will arrive or it will not. Then you can be happy or upset. The route it takes, while interesting, ultimately shouldn't matter.

It does seem odd but there could be all kinds of reasons - like perhaps the label is too damaged for the drivers hand held reader to read.
