Wow! I can't wait for the results of the test!
I'm thinking of getting a turbocharged Mazdaspeed Miata, and this would be the perfect oil for it!

Hello all I am a new member of this board and have been following this thread with great interest. Im presently using Mobil 1 5w30 in my 2001 Ford Focus. On a recent trip to the auto parts store I noticed they were selling Mobil 1 High performance 15w-50w. Is this the same oil as the Mobil 1R Racing oil that you have been dicussing in this thread and if not any opinions on the Mobil 1 High Performance oil?

Thanks Rich

Rich

Put 0W-20 or 5W-20 in your Focus. 50W? No way. You lose HP and mpg. Even a "thicker" 30W will cost you a little of each. Use a "thin" 20w. Your Focus will get more mpg and hp...NO BS! You will feel a difference. Plus you get all the protection, hot and cold, you need.

Thanks for the response, looks like I have been using the wrong weight I will switch to 0-20w next change. Do you know if the Mobil Racing oil and the Mobil High Performance are the same thing.

No they arent. Mobil racing is R oil.

The 15-50 is "high performance formula" or whatever.. its been out for awhile.

I'd probably just use the motorcraft blend 5w-20 in your focus. its 1.77$/qt at walmart too.
(already a syn blend too)

Miata Don, all the factory backed World Challenge Protege's ran Redline racing oil with Redline street at 50/50 mix. Usually a 30w range.

Not a TC Miata but really hefty racing motors.
