One of my friends has a 2004 Jeep Liberty 3.7 4x4. It was purchased used in 2007 with about 50,000 miles on it. I've mentioned this Jeep on here before, but it has been a while.
Currently the Liberty has 168,000 miles on the odometer, and it's doing great.
Oil changes are sporadic at best. They usually get done within 10K mile intervals with conventional oil. IF the transmission fluid has ever been changed, it was in the first 50K miles, because I know it hasn't been touched since then. Xfer case and diff fluids are all original, as is the brake fluid.
Problems: rear trunk latch is FUBAR and has been since about 100K miles. Also, the pinion seal on the front diff has been leaking badly since at least 120K miles.
Still, the Jeep keeps on going. It starts right up, runs smooth, and drives straight. Other than the messed up trunk, it has no real quirks or issues.
The Jeep hasn't really been babied. Lately it has been driven mostly on the highway, but it's been buried up to the frame in mud before, so it's not like it's just a highway cruiser.
I don't really like the looks of Libertys, and frankly I just think the Cherokee was really hard to beat, but this Liberty has been one tough little [censored].
