UOA Volvo MTF M45 from Volvo 244 1978

UOA of the manual transmission M45 from a Volvo 244 from 1978 I just bought. Maybe the original factory oil... About 60 000 km and 35 years.

IMpressive for that 4 speed transmission.

I recally my dad NEVER once replacing those fluids on our 75 245.

Mind you, it never failed from a driveline failure, only rust
 
It does look like factory fill and it does look like an old Type F, except for the barium. Barium was used as an anti-rust, anti-corrosive, and dispersant for some time but has been removed due to its being a heavy metal.

Weird additive combo.

Maybe Volvo started with a type F and had the blender add some extra stuff.
