UOA - Triumph Speed 1200 RR - Rotella T6 15w-40

For this riding season I changed the entire fleet over to HPL MATV 10w40. So far, the only oil change I've done is on the Honda 450r. It barely holds 1 qt, so I change it every 10 hours, give or take. No samples sent in yet. A Honda Pioneer sample will be sent in for sure. Last year the 15w40 T6 sheared out of grade after 650 miles. Not sure on the hours, but it's my old mans, and he drives it on fire-roads...like a old man.

I used Rotella in a Honda Rincon 650 ATV. I'll never use that oil again in anything myself. I wiped a intake cam lobe using it. I changed the cam and switched my whole bike fleet over to Mobile1 0W-40 and all has been good since.

That's awful to hear about the intake cam. I would not necessarily credit the oil, too many folks have used Rotella over decades and decades with zero issue to blame the oil in my opinion. Glad to hear the M1 is keeping the new cam happy.

I have an Acura, which is made by Honda. Cams in the J37 engine have a known metallurgy problem with some of them. Those cams started to wipe, wasn't the oil. I'd credit bad metallurgy, and call it a day on the ATV. Quick Internet search confirmed more than a few older Rincon's have wiped cams at all manner of mileages and ages.
