Are UOA's based more inherently on mileage or more importantly, how much does ambient temperature affect a UOA ?

I currently only have 3K on my current OCI.
It looks like I'm doing a bit less driving that usual, so if I change my oil out now to try this new oil I have........and based on 600 miles a month, I'll end up doing a OCI in the winter, which is not exactly the funnest time to do it ;-)

My general OCI is whenever I swap winter and summer tar wheels, which work out nice cause regardless of mileage averages, it generally is around 5-7K OCI / 2x a year which I'm fine with......not going with extended OCI.

Just curious if the same oil, given different ambient temps will produce much different UOA results. Just trying to setup a *baseline* for this new oil.

Most HD Engine manufactures say the most important factor is fuel usage.

I use Capacity x MPG X 60 for a beginning oil change interval for a car.

A Honda with a 3.5 QT Capacity that averages 44 mpg in strictly highway driving would be 9240 mi (Not far from Hondas 10,000 mi recommendation).

A 360ci 3/4 Ton 4x4 Dodge with a 5 Qt Capacity that averages 10 mpg in strictly city driving would be 3000 mi (the same as factory severe service interval).

This is for standard SM GF-4 Dino. For a Premium product like Schaeffers, or Synthetic you can adjust upwards using a higher multiplier (Like 90 or 120).

Gene K - Interesting formula, worked out to be exactly what the manufacturer recommends for my car
