I agree that wear metals should be our main concern, but I can't say that the thinning out of an oil doesn't bother me. My main issue with an oil which thins out is the fact that eventually that oil will leave the engine dirtier than an oil which does not thin out.

I agree with the Patman. I'd guess this oil would leave an engine dirtier then others. I think the idea of a 0w-40 is just ridiculous actually considering the spread and fact that the VI's shear.

Is this too many miles on this oil in your opinion?

Not in my opinion.Wear numbers are extremely low,as are insolubles.Give Dyson Analysis a holler.Terry gets paid to read these things all the time.I bet he could give you a good 'read' better than most people that have resoponded so far.Me included.

It's all about the History... ie
TRENDING the engine
You need several to have an idea... it looks okay!

Next one pull at 3-4K then change and pull at 5-6K
Then maybe the one after 3-4K then drain and pull at 5-6K.... by this time you'll have a better idea.
When you do have an idea, say it is 6K drains; then your call, can cahneg and sample or sample mid-way...
When my truck is running better it should be doing 10-20K+
I'll pull at say 4-5K, then 8-10K, then when I get to say 12-16K then again at drain
If it looks like a 20K drain, I'll do the next one at say;5-8K, then 12-16K, then on drain.
It all depends on what is going on in the engine IMHO. I'm sure there are those that will dis-agree

I would try to keep the EOT (End of test), TBN > 4.0, in order to keep the engine nice and clean and the seals/gaskets nice and supple ....You want to avoid getting a layer of varnish on the seals, or they will dry up, shrink, harden ("crosslink") and develop microcracks.
