I go past the Java Jive now and then. It is located on the old US 99 Highway which was the main highway for the region until the Interstate 5 went in. (Yes I'm old). Since I-5 got built it has been forgotten but still a local attraction of sorts. That part of town is not pleasant.

I worked in the tideflats of Tacoma for 17+ years at the aroma of Tacoma paper mill. Been in Wyoming now for 14+ years working for, gasp, a coal fired power plant. Used to buy body shop supplies just up the street from the Java Jive and back then the whole area smelled of Nalley's chili, even overpowered the paper mill smell. I loved Western Washington until the traffic and crowds became overwhelming. None of that in Wyoming.

re: the Former Longaberger basket building.
It's in Newark, OH(pronounced by the locals as NERK). not Norwalk. (they're about 2 hrs apart)

Born and raised in Tacoma. The Simpson plant is gone now. Being redeveloped into something else. Nalleys is gone too.

You are definitely in a better place.
