Uninsured motorist rant

My solution will help more than hurt. Something has to be done, it's getting out of hand. In order to finance a car you have to have full coverage, the second that coverage is removed prior to the loan being paid off the bank is notified. Then at that point the bank should immediately trigger a repo and get it off the road, no if ands or buts. With cars that are paid off, what I wrote regarding that should hold true. I'm sick of paying for other people's problems.
Ya know I agree but a repo is expensive and the bank hopes nine times out of ten that if they give the deadbeat a little leeway they'll catch up on payments. It's one of those things, if you want to fix, you have to regulate banks more, but then they can't make as much money during economic growth periods, and they own senators, and you the common man don't. So we get this.

There is no fair. Never was, never will be. I could say I pay for a lot of other's problems, but I sure wouldn't want to change places with those people. Because I was those people.
That's fine, you turned your life around, thank God. Maybe some of these people will too, if they spend some time in jail. Yes things aren't fair, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't change. Odds are there are quite a few of these guys driving without insurance that could have a lot of accidents, possibly drive impaired, and getting them off the roads make the roads safer for all of us, another plus. I'd hate to see a loved one killed by someone who might very well be driving under those circumstances.

Good points, it needs some polishing no doubt, but something has to change. It can't stay the way it is.

And the problem circulates back to the banks - again. Funny that.

If you make insurance mandatory AND 100% ENFORCE IT, the insurance companies own you and the sky's the limit.
I don't have all the answers. I have been bitten by uninsured motorists.

There are no easy answers. There will always be those who feel the law does not pertain to them. And it is not just uninsured motorists.

They already own those of us that follow the rules. Hence the anger.

I am done paying for these people. When I was young and very poor I paid my insurance, and did without other things.

+1 My feelings exactly, and if I couldn't afford something, or afford to make the payments and insure it I didn't buy it. Pretty simple concept when you think about it.

100%

trading freedom for security. not good.

I like the good ole street beating curb stomp that was suggested by another (who was NOT @dnewton3), alas it sidesteps all the legal and costly governmental processes that just wont work, and be more expensive

Vehicle Insurance is mandatory or did I miss something?
As far as enforcing it, the states I lived in, NY, SC and NC if you didnt have insurance you cant renew (or) lose your vehicle registration. I think that is as close to as 100% as you can get. I can only assume in your technology state of CA it is the same?

Free markets, hundreds of insurance companies competing for your busniess. How can they own you? It's already 100% enforced as I posted.
If you're a responsible person, insurance is cheap.

No one goes to jail it seems. Especially in the the last 6 years. I have no idea why either.............
Even in very red states we simply don’t have room for 2% of men to be in prison. The costs are extraordinary and many places have privatized it escape from NY style making it even more costly.

There are a lot of very stupid reasons getting people incarcerated these days, if we we’re any good at filtering the stupid out and rehabilitating but nope double down on things that don’t work.

The only thing that is mandatory Is gas tax because it’s nearly impossible to steal (prepay)
Everything else that isn’t automatically deducted is always optional.

Most of the northern area in this state pays for the plate when they buy the car and then never again. Nobody cares up north (half the time they aren’t on road anyway) and if they did where do you put millions of additional people in jail?
