That dog is a slow learner. He's even been given an example. (Although I have to admit, it took me a while to realize what was going on.)

A co-worker described the following: There was a door adjacent to a refrigerator, it had a lever handle like in the GIF. Their cat would climb on top of the refrigerator and hurl himself off, at the door handle. When he hit the door handle his body weight slamming into the door would open it. That cat had some smarts.

I'm not grasping the relevance of the film clip.

Is this where the dog lives and the pooch should know how to let himself out?

Was he visiting and had no familiarity of that door?

Also, the title got past me. "Unfortunately, we are ALL this dog"??? ...OP meant slow learners??? Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?

Perhaps the dog, like many, was trained not to jump up......

As long as I'm not eating dog food.......Cheers, Kira

OOhhhh....NOW I see! Great! Great, poignant post Shannow.

My eye did "see" the man walk through the door but my brain digested it as a chop in the video.

Agreed. At first I was reminded of an old M*A*S*H television scene where Hawkeye is bugging Frank ... "In, Out", In, Out" - ad nasuem.

thanks for posting, helped wake me up today.

Heh heh One of my interior French doors was missing a lower pane. Max the cat used it when the door was closed. One day , I replaced the pane..

Midnight, another cat, would meow at me to open the kitchen door to go out. If it was raining, he would go to the slider on the other side of the house...

We have a screen door to our back deck that can be very hard to see when the light hits it at certain angles. My little dog has crashed into it a couple times. Now, she won't go out the door even if the screen is open. She's very tentative and reaches with your little paw to see if she can feel it and we have to walk out first to show her the "invisible" force field is not up.

Fix: get some dry erase colors (not the really smelly type) and tell the kids it has to stay clean....
and hide the windex...

Thankyou for that link...Monarch project for dogs.

Having worked for a sociopath before, where ever decision was sitting on a fence with a doberman on one site and a rotweiller on the other (aka no decision was going to get through without a mauling, I can see how that process works)
