I have a 2017 F150 2.7 with the 6R80 six speed transmission. At 57,000 I was going to have a shop flush the transmission. They say they only use Phillips 66 ULV atf for fords. My manual specs LV, not ULV.
Is that ok or should I go elsewhere??

As far as I know all 6r80's take LV. Triple check your sources before putting ULV in it.

Sounds like you should find a new shop. Also, don't get a machine flush. A drain and fill is what you want.

Edit: Phillips makes most Motorcraft fluids for Ford so there's nothing wrong with that brand, just make sure to use the correct type.

Dropping the pan on your transmission is a piece of cake. The gasket is reusable and filters are cheap. Use only LV, not ULV. Mercon LV is cheap. Refill will require the engine to be running to get the last 2 quarts back in. Watch the cat converter beside the fill port and tiny dipstick so you don't burn yourself.

Changing the filter is not as important as changing the fluid (if it's worn / dirty) and cleaning the magnet.

I've got an OE 6R80 filter cut open and the filter media is not great, I'd guess maybe a 30-50 micron? I remember being surprised how much daylight was getting through. On the other hand, clean pan and magnets will PULL metal out of suspension 24hrs a day.

I second this. I will add, wear a long, thick rubber grill glove when checking the level. I’ve got a nice manly burn scar on my arm from just brushing against that running cat for a microsecond.
