I recently started running Ubuntu Linux on my system in a dual boot mode. Install was simple and everything installed and worked as it should with the exception of my old scanner. Took only a minute setting up the printer driver.

I found two books that have been a big help. The Official Ubuntu Book Second Edition and Ubuntu Hacks, Tips & Tools for Exploring, Using, and Tuning Linux.

I've been using Ubuntu for a while now too on a dual boot. My 5 year old loves it and I don't have to worry about virus' and such. I've hadn't see these to books, the system does take a little getting used to but is pretty easy with the help of their forums. The non standard things or things that don't work out of the box will take a while.

I have a atari 2600, NES and SNES emulator on my system hooked to a USB controller...lots of fun.
