U.S life expectancy by state

Not with all the broke da mouth, deep fried, gravy all ovah, double scoop mac salad plate lunches we have here.
I'll have those once in a while though, sub the mac salad for leafy greens though.
On that note, fast food and poverty go together =low life expectancy.
Eating fast food is much cheaper than eating healthy food. Southeast is littered with fast foods for a reason.
Some 17-1&yrs ago one lady in AL was talking food expenses. Someone asked her why her kids know McDonald’s menu to the letter. She explained to the cent how much costs to eat lunch in McDonald’s vs. buying food at Wal Mart (we are not talking here any fancy stores).
It was very sad and revealing thing to listen.

You really don’t know Chicago.
But no, they don’t go where trouble is. That escalates from posing to real trouble.
I certainly don't know about the situation on the ground. I was thinking more of what happened in DC, which was a general anti-crime operation. What's going on in Chicago is ICE activity, so yeah, probably won't make a difference.

I do NOT want to live to 85 and be in very poor health.

I tell my kids to take me out to the Florida Everglades on an airboat and accidentally push me off into alligator infested swamp if I’m in bad health and no longer in my right mind.

The healthcare, education in MA is amazing along with access and benefits. The state really works well overall in many aspects and right people want to live and work there to support it all.

My take on this thread is to view myself and learn how I can better myself, not entertain myself hating on Chicago.
One thing I need to do better at is protecting my skin, especially my nose, from sunburn.
Prayers for the people of Chicago is probably very appropriate.

There is not a single square inch of Chicago, where millions of innocent and good people live, work, travel--are not subject to being a victim of a very violent theft/ armed robbery at any given time. Not a square inch in the entire city.

How tragic to live in a US city, and no matter where you are in the city-- being highly exposed/ at risk to being a victim of a very violent theft/ armed robbery at any given time. People in Chicago deserve much better.

Could be coal fired power plants and industrial emissions. Although many have been shut down, the data probably lags.
I mean coincidence how they lined up.

AND exert the time/money/effort to eat well.
AND keep one's body in tone. This fends off a myriad of stupid little injuries (yoga, anyone?).
AND keep poisonous propaganda out of your skull. Poison thoughts hurt our bodies.
AND exercise our cardiac and aerobic systems so we can 'push it' when need be.
et cetera

IMO, I believe DNA and lifestyle play a big role in this. Access to good healthcare, and using it, makes a big difference too.
I believe you are right, except for me to rephrase it to read like this.

IMO, I believe DNA and lifestyle is all that matters. Access to good healthcare, and using it, makes a difference but that can pretty much be found in almost any area if one is determined to find and use it.

Life expectancy can be very misleading. The number can be skewed pretty drastically by gun violence and drug related deaths of young people. I sure there's plenty in the 50-70 demographic on here, and if you've made it that long, there's a pretty significant chance you'll make it well beyond the average life expectancy.
Perfectly said if you made it through the hazards of life for decades, then your life expectancy is much longer.
Example an average male should live to around 82 years old however if you made it to 82 they you are expected to live 7 more years to 89 as an example.
Here is the Social Security death chart as I call it.

I disagree but I do understand your point. Fast food is actually more expensive than to cook your own store bought chicken, a head of broccoli and a potato.
or a can of tuna, can of chicken, salad, fruits and vegetables.
You drink water instead of soda, you do not snack on snack foods at home either. Simple stuff.
Want hamburgers instead? You can buy 90+% lean chop-meat in your supermarket for $8 or less pound sometimes onsite grass feed free range. Then repeat line one.

Fast food is an excuse to not cook nor properly shop and eat. Plus the corporations make it taste good.
Obesity is a huge problem in the USA and it's from eating junk food and snack foods vs saving money and eating properly.

Not if you have a one-dollar menu and work two jobs.
