Calif, longest life expectancy for Men

About long life expectancy, assuming genetics is the same:

1) Healthy diet (quality protein with low saturated fat, low sugar, low sodium diet)
2) Good amount of exercise (doesn't means marathon, just moving around instead of sit indoor all day)
3) Reduce stress
4) Family support
5) Good healthcare
6) Closer to nature, outdoor, etc.
7) Eliminate carcinogens (cigarette, hard liquor, substance abuse, BBQ meat, preservatives, etc)

A lot of the above come from high incomes and a lot of the above disappear along with urbanization.
Yes to all the above, but I gotta have my BBQ.

Diet and exercise are not "cure-alls", period, end of story.

Note that Cancer peaks at age 60, at that age, it is nearly half the deaths. Let me tell you about my amazingly healthy and athletic younger brother, dying of bladder cancer at age 55. Never smoked or drank, always athletic, very strict careful diet, ideal weight. Cancer at age 60 takes nearly double what heart disease does. The heart risk worsens as people age.

This website has some active graphs that tell the story, very clearly:

Want to know what is cardio-protective? Very modest alcohol consumption. In fact, modest daily alcohol is highly correlated with a reduction in all cause mortality.

I knew a woman that her 28 year old sister died of a very aggressive brain cancer.

Anyone at any age can die of unexpected health problem.

Sorry to hear that. Yes it is possible that anyone can die of any reason. However, in a large sample population, we will see correlation and eventually scientists and doctors discover causality, that something will increase the probability of how something happens and whether it is better to not do something, or do something, for your own good.

Possibility: if you buy a lottery ticket you may win, but if you don't buy a lottery ticket you will never win.
Probability: if you buy a lottery ticket, chances are you will lose money more than you will win. This is how gambling works and this is how the casino always wins.

People tends to get them mixed up, this is the biggest problem in our education system in K-12.

I know women suppose to outlive men but.....My wife died 4 years ago 58.......my brothers wife died 12 years ago 61...he just turned 68.....My GF in 6th grade died last year with early onset dementia at 63...
My best friends wife died 3 years ago at 59
I saw on facebook a girl in highschool I knew died at 64 ....did not say why......I guess covid?
If men suppose to die first I sure dont see it.

That's the difference between anecdotal evidence and actual evidence. Hence the phrase your mileage may vary. Look at the actuarial charts. Standard distribution at 60 has about 85% of the male population still alive and about 91% of the females still alive at that age. So on that list, you picked out about 5 people, but maybe there's about 50 other people in that age group you know that's still alive. The dead jump out at you but not the living. It's also a nationwide chart so I suppose if you grew up in Love Canal that was a toxic landfill, then yeah, maybe lots more dropped dead early.
