Type of oil to use with wooden pistons?

And I thought my projects were idiot's delight. What if the crowns were protected by a metal disc. Also, judging from the wide grain of the wood it is pine or spruce. A tighter grained wood wood be better.

There is something knows as chemically densifed wood. It is treated, and compressed. Can be up to 11 times harder and stronger than regular wood. Might be fun to try it.

I was thinking one of the simple ceramic coatings on the crown of the pistons would likely help a lot.
 
Next project ... wooden impellers for the main engines fuel pumps on the Russian space shuttle.
