No. His crew chief is. Big difference there.

Good for JR!!!

I stayed up for that, it was a long day at Daytona. Jr had a very fast car. That comment about 11 coats of clear on top of the decals tells you how much detail is put into those speedway cars to make them slippery. I don't think the average Nascar body/paint man gets much sleep.

Was excited to finally get the race restarted. But the number, and length, of the commercials made it unbearable for me to watch. I made it to about lap 90 and I'd had enough. Yes, I understand the need for marketing, and commercials, to help pay for the sport, but for me at least, it's becoming un-watchable. It's not only sports but anything on TV/cable.

Have you not being paying attention to NASCAR over the last 10 years? be grateful they've stopped the phony cautions to get in more commercials.

I have said before it seems closer to "professional" wrestling!

I am not poking a stick at you with this comment but this is kind of a pet peeve of mine. People [censored] about the cost of concerts and sporting events and stuff but validate the prices by paying it. In your case; if more people would turn it off because it was unwatchable then they would have to do something about it but you validate it by watching in the same way as my pet peeve example. Every business is in business to maximize their dollar intake folks.

Agreed. That is why I can watch "professional" wrestling. Professional wrestling admits the outcome is predetermined. I quit watching NASCAR about 14 years ago, NBA about 10, and I can not watch UFC because it is evolved into professional wrestling.

And the rumors have started already, #3 car wins the pole and Earnhardt wins the race, all to common outcomes with Nascar

Admittedly, It was a weak moment for me. And I did come to my senses and do something I enjoyed more (actually perusing this site). The Daytona 500 is the only NASCAR race I watch because of the memories I have of camping in the infield of many, much earlier races in the 60's and 70's. And I pointed out that I do understand the commercialism and marketing involved with TV/cable anything. If it wasn't for my bride of many years, I'd get rid of cable altogether.

Just remember the primary function of NASCAR is to make money and entertain. Competition is secondary to the first two goals.

But without competion doesn't the fan base dry up along with a portion of the money. F1 comes to mind in the US.

Someone else obviously not paying attention...

Dale Jr didn't win a single race in '13 and only one in '12, the two or three years prior he didn't win any either...

I'm glad he won but was pulling for Keselowski...

You guys can say rigged or it's professional wrestling if you like but NASCAR is extremely competitive... Like the poster I quoted, most of you don't have a clue...
