TV remote batteries dying

Hello.
Picked up a 65" TCL last summer. The factory remote is going through batteries about every 3-4 months....crazy. I don't ever remember changing a remote's batteries more than once a year.

Any feedback?

Does the remote have voice command? They can be on listening all the time using up the juice faster.

You can try some lithium batteries. If you don't use the voice search function, you can unpair the remote and just use it IR. If it's still under warranty, TCL may send you a new remote, but that's probably about average battery life.

Regarding the voice function: There may be a small switch in the bottom/center (near the power LED) to disable the function. I bought a 65" TCL last Fall and that's how it is arranged.

I bought a Sony TV a couple of years ago and eats a pair of AAA in about a month. I went to rechargeables. The remote has voice command but is activated by button.

It has backlit buttons when moved, so I figure that's probably the main draw.

My remotes seem to burn through batteries faster than they used to, even better my rh arrow key gets worn out and hard to push in about a year

Looks like I have voice command off already. I'm betting backlights and other crap I never use are the culprits. No big deal.

That's actually what I was thinking. I'd disable it, if I knew how.

Yeah. That’s ideal. If only that alkalines can leak pretty badly. I use rechargeable whenever I can, rotating them through different devices. But for remotes I’ll typically put in a freshly charged set every month or so.

Same issue with our TCL unit - batteries need replacing every few months it seems.

Don’t listen to “tin foil” take it’s listening . However it’s related.

The remote is a Bluetooth transmitter for the mic mostly eating batteries especially if it loses connection and goes into pairing mode.
