I just applied a coat of Turtle Wax Platinum Series Ultra Gloss liquid wax, and I loved it. It went on and off easy and left a very deep and rich shine to my Dark Patriot Blue paint. ANyone else have any experience with this wax?

I don't wish to sound disrespectful, but can I ask what your experience level in detailing and waxing is? I use the Klasse twins (AIO & SG) with Pinnacle signature series (carnuba) on my bimmer. Always looking for something different, hopefully better!

Ive used it twice now on my Camaro, which happens to sit outside in the FL sun and rain. The rain here is teribly acidic and I have trouble keeping wax on the car (usually wax it weekly). However, with this, I've noticed it is stil beading water like new after 2 weeks of hard rain (Hurricaine Bonnie was my test lol).
I like it, especially for $7/can - and I use the paste.

OK, no offense, but were talking about two different waxes here, lobo11 is talking about a liquid and Dominic a paste.
What's the deal, I know enough you can't compare oranges to apples, there both fruit but that's it. These are both Turtle Wax products but it ends there.
Do any of you apply this with a pc or rotary? What prep work is done before applying the waxes? Do you wash and clay first? Thanks for your responses!

No special prep, just a wash, chamois and wax. I usually wax every 2-3 months, and then wash and detail/spray wax every two weeks or so. If I was I spray wax, and I would say my vehicles look better than 90% of the vehicles out ther, but then again I guess that isn't really saying too much

What did I say? I've been waxing my own vehicles for over 35yr's. What's wrong with the question. I'm thinking it's worth my time and money to try if he tells me he's used some of the products I've tried, just asking about the products he's comparing it against, I don't understand why you feel the need to protect his statement. If I told you something was the best, wouldn't you want to know if it was compared to what you believed was at the time, wouldn't you ask the very same question?

I use to use Nufinsih paste,now i use turtlewax. I guess im a sucker for wal-mart and what they have on the isles.
Thanks bretfraz, I remember seeing that before on roadfly. Turtle wax didn't last two weeks, nothing special to talk about. I'll stay with the Klasse twins and Pinnacle past wax!
One thing I've noticed about these highly regarded waxes/polishes such as Zymol and Zaino is that they don't clean the paint at all. Zymol will remove water spots with a heck of a lof ot work. It is no match for road tar and bird droppings though. Zaino has a nice look to it, but it won't even remove water spots. They even state that on their websites. Maybe top-tier waxes/polishes are fine for trailer or garage queens.......but since my 02 Z28 is a daily driver, I have to use the ones with "Petroleoum Distillates" in them. It's the only way to remove road tar, droppings, splattered bug guts and oxidation among others. Clay bars are awesome, but it's a lot of work.....and that's only half the detail job.
My plan is to use the "harsh" waxes bi-monthly to clean and spray-on wax to maintain.
EDIT: Oh yeah....I just bought a bottle of the cheaper "Hard Shell finish" Turtle Wax....the one for $2.99 at Wally. Harsh enough for me!

Last_Z, you make an excellent point, not all waxes are created equally. Some are LSP products which are meant as pure waxes with no abrasives of any kind, others have something, either chemical or physical abrasives which break down during use so you can remove oxidation and minor imperfections like water spots or swirl marks.

i haven't tried the platinum wax yet, but i'm very impressed with the platinum detailing spray. it does a great job keeping my wax in shape on my (silver) car. not so much on the (black) bike, but frequent applications are easy and effective.
i've used mother's and meguiars as well, and i'd say it's as good as either one. plus it's easier to find, and the bottle works better than the weird spray mechanism on the meguiars.
mother's smells the best though.
