Turning one rotor or both?

I will be interested to hear if your warp returns in 12-15k miles, as mine did after the rotors were cut once. Please keep us updated on how long they stay smooth.

One last question before proceeding. Why do I only get the vibration (and left&right pulling on wheel) when the car has been driven for 15+ mins, after everything has reached operating temperature.

Is that any another symptom of a warped rotor? Can that be something else that's wrong in the brake system?

That means the material of the rotor has different density through out, so after it is warmed up, it expands at different rate. This is something that no turning can fix and will occur again and again, and is suppose to be a manufacturing defect (but good luck trying to prove it), time to buy a good one (i.e. Autozone Duralast or Brembo).

i run slotted rotors now. the wife seems to think she is back on the autobahn again and was going through pads and rotors. i switched to slotted and it seems to help. keeps them cooler. arizona heat kills the brakes.

seems like this has more to do with pad compound selection. I've had great pad life, great rotor life, and great braking power with Hawk HPS pads and autozone duralast rotors on my 94 civic ex abs (same front brakes as 94-00 integra).

Slotted rotors dont really keep the brakes cooler than blanks, infact, there is less 'heatsink' for the heat to dissapate from; spreading a thermal load over a larger surface doesn't put on as much stress on any given area compared to the same material and less mass.

i meant to say larger mass no necessarily over a larger surface area. but it goes to say that a blank rotor has more pad-to-rotor surface contact than a slotted and/or drilled rotor.

as to why it could have only occurred after 15min and warming up, the pad itself could be bad, like a warped backing plate that only shows itself when warmed up, or delaminating pad material from the backing plate.

I prefer ceramic pads and Brembo OEM replacement rotors...
but i've been reading about cryo treated, for about $20 more each rotor (diff brand though)
are those rotors worth it?

Frozen rotors to me are like those magnet things you put around gas lines. Basically with both they tell you the same junk "it re-aligns the molecules" or whatever. Right.

Never understood the need for cross drilled or slotted rotors on a daily driver. If you are burning the brakes up that bad, maybe you should stop driving like an #@$%!.

you know i never use to believe that turned rotors could go back again quickly untill i witness it with my own eyes.

my father and i decided 1 weekend to pull the rotors off both of our cars and get them turned. he has a legacy outback and ive got a stratus. we turn the rotors. he buys new wagner brake pads and i reuse my current brakepads.

in about 500 miles his rotors are all warped again. mine stop great even with used pads.
