Turn signal issues on ZX2

Symptoms: right side
1 Random...very random 16 times good/1 with issue....2 good/2 with issue..etc
2 Fast blinking signal
3. Saw the turn signal "glow" green the other night just cruising
4 Replaced all 4 right turn signal bulbs
5 Happens whether headlights are on or off
6. I noticed when the front outer running light wouldn't light=fast blinker issues..When it was lit, all was good
7 Tested the "harness socket" it got normal continious power..even with the fast blink issue..the outer socket gets good normal power...put bulb back in and it goes fast blinking
8 I swapped the "outer" sockets from left to right...Used blinker 8 times = normal for now

Guys at the part store..even customers ALL said turn signal switch...If that was the case, why would it go from normal to spazen just taking the socket out of the headlight??? Switch wasn't being altered.
Could the outer socket just have had poor contact??
What else???

Socket looked prestine....Maybe a bad conntection that swapping the outer sockets fixed????

Measuring voltage to the bulb doesn't tell you the resistance of the "ground side". An easy way to check it is to measure the voltage, if any, between the shell of the bulb and a GOOD chassis ground with the light powered up. You should see litle or NO voltage present. "Thermal" flasher units flash faster when the current draw of the bulbs is LOWER than normal which can be caused by a filament out OR by high resistance in the circuit.

Different vehicle, but the turn signal switch on my Cherokee went bad, causing the rear hazards to come on every right turn. The front turn signal worked fine. It started happening every once in awhile until it happened every turn. Ended up replacing the turn signal switch and all was well again.

The hazards and turn signals are also two different switches on this Jeep.

your symptoms definitely point to multifunction/turn signal switch. I have seen many fords with the same issue.

A socket may be corroded and yet look decent.
Check them real good - clean them out. and use the proper grease afterwards.
There are 'gang' grounds that may be loose or corroded. They connect many ground wires to the sheet metal with a star washer.
Take them apart and wire brush them and the body where they attach shiny clean.
