I hardwired my 9500ix and that meant running the power cord along the top of the windshield and down the A-pillar into the glovebox (where the fuse box is).

For some reason, the power cord occasionally pops out of the space between the windshield and the headliner, such as when I'm hitting bumps in the road. It's probably too thin -- basically just a phone cord.

I'd appreciate any suggestions people have on securing into that space better, while still making it removable later on. I guess it needs to be a bit thicker, though I don't know how to easily accomplish that.

Brush a little rubber cement on the cord in a few spots before tucking it in. It will still be easy enough to pull out and will keep it from popping out.

That had occurred to me, but I think it would need a TON of tape to do that. I was hoping there was something I could just pop over the cable (something rubber or foam).

Radio Shack has some small plastic "clips" that clip onto the line and then self-adhese to the glass along the pillar/headliner....almost invisible.

Another way is some small nylon cable ties (your choice of color) and pulled tight along the line at whatever interval you need.....the "knot" should hold it in place.

Really small fuel line should suit you. Slit it, or don't, your choice.

Yellow foam classic ear plugs. Cut a slit (razor), insert the cord, squeeze, then insert the ear plug with cord in it, hold in place till the ear plug expands.
Foam ear plugs spaced at your needs.
I use V1 and on occasionally a 9500IX (matter of fact, need to plug the 9500IX for applicable weekly update that included California last notice).

Errtt, that's using your dipstick, Jimmy! What a great and creative idea. I hope I remember it when I need it. I have a pack of those earplugs in a drawer somewhere.

That's awesome. I was using those little yellow marshmallows that grow in the parking lot of the gun range.

I thought the yellow were lemon, and the green & orange were lime and orange flavor.

There's another plug called Moldex Spark Plug foam ear plugs - NASCAR edition. Although they have one rounded end & tabbed on the other, come in mixed hot multi-colors, tapered body, they are softer but don't seem to expand & hold as well as the old standby classics by 3M. But if you figure it out, they are great for fishing. Being so multi color is up in the air what flavor each is, but softer and more ear-hole comfort, but I like classics best.
