We are remodeling our Petaluma home; there are 3 bathrooms. One has a tub, the other 2 have shower stalls. I am considering a solid material, but don't know much about it. Tile is possible, dunno for sure.

Suggestions? Appreciate youe thoughts!

I would do tile in a heart beat. We have 2 customer showers that we love! If you are handy it can be very affordable.

Tile is nice but does take some looking after.
If you can get a solid one piece in that's the route I would go.
What does tile require? We have 2 tiled showers that I have done in both our master bath and the other one upstairs. Neither require maintenance outside of regular cleaning, but that is no different than any other product. When they were installed the tile and grout lines were sealed with 30 year sealer, so no more maintenance. Now the glass surround in our shower needs wiped down with a squeegee after each use.

That's good ! how long have they been in.

I’d do tile as well. I don’t squeegee our shower glass, life is too short for that but it does get cleaned weekly (by someone else, can’t take credit for that).

If going with tile, strongly recommend porcelain over natural stone. Porcelain is near maintenance free, natural stone requires continual mainteance.

The question I think worth asking- do I keep the tubs, or replace the tubs with showers. Tubs are becoming less desirable to many homeowners. Many shower pans on the market designed as a direct replacement for a removed tub.

I really like the look of large tile pieces with say one vertical or horizontal decorative line..

3 baths; 2 shower stalls and 1 tub. I've learned Porcelain is the way to go; wish I had known that before I redid our Los Gatos home...

We just remolded two bathrooms. My wife and I are good friends with a top realtor in the area. She said-"Since your home is a family home-a family will buy it. And if they have small kids the new owners will want a tub, especially with small children". So we bought a new tub (shower combo) for the hallway bath.

Since she is making a half million a year-we listened.

The master was redone in 2023. I did it the first time in 2010 and then we decided to get rid of the whirlpool tub and build a bigger shower. The other one in 2022.
That's what we did in the master bathroom. I wanted a walk-In for the Hall bath-but for future marketability we decided against it. As I mentioned-my Realtor friend sells lots and lots of houses-and she advised against a walk in for the Hall bath.
