I am looking for something interesting to be part of on weekends, after hours on weekdays are tough, but possible. anything from IT to cars. I live in Albany NY area.

Call/volunteer fire and EMS services are hurting for dedicated personnel.
Here in southern Vermont, every EMS and volunteer fire department has signs out looking for volunteers. We have an aging population around here. More demand for services, fewer individuals to provide them.
Seniors call 911 for all kinds of silly problems. I bet EMS would love to have somebody they could connect Ethel with when her "internets are broken."

I volunteer at a dog rescue shelter and it's very rewarding. Right now we're fostering a dog at home that came with an injured leg that had to be amputated.
Volunteer in something you believe in instead of something that's just convenient or easy.
