Trying to decide between Michelin Defender 2 or Yokohama Avid Ascend GT

Over the summer I picked up a 2022 Dodge Charger Pursuit. It came with some Firestone Firehawks that are bigger than what the car calls for and the front tires are at 3/32nds. With winter approaching I have been shopping for tires. Discount tire price matched these two tires.

Michelin Defender 225 /60 R18 100H - OTD $849.52
or

Yokohama AVID Ascend GT 225 /60 R18 100H - OTD $679.67

From reading up on these tires they seem to do quite good in most categories. I honestly can't decide between the two, they both seem to be very good options for the $$$. Any input would be helpful with choosing.

Of those 2 .. the avid ascend GT,
Not to be confused with the junk Yokohama Avid GT tires.

because naming one avid GT and one avid ascent GT isnt confusing /sarcasm.

I've been pretty happy with the Avid Ascend GT's I've had on my Accord for the last four years or so. Certainly a good tire for the price I paid for them.

Considering the cost premium, the tests at Tire Rack are not favorable to the Defender2.

Michelin
I'm currently on my 6th set on my 2011 Expedition with 391k miles
You have had 6 sets of defender 2's on your expedition? what is that 3 sets a year? 😂
Joking aside, you may have had 6 sets of michelins you didnt have 6 sets of Michelin defender 2.

And while michelin makes many fine tires
The defender 2 is average.. for a high price.

I don't think you will be able to tell the difference performance-wise. The Michelins will last a tad bit longer, but not a whole lot in that model. I'm not as optimistic as TomYoung above. I'd say 15-20% longer. I think you'll have to decide if that little extra is worth $200. One thing I would put in favor of the Michelin on a personal level is that it is made in the US and the other in the Philippines. On a side note, if I were going to spring the extra $$ for Michelin, I'd get the CrossClimate2 instead of the Defender 2.

Michelin. They will last longer, and more importantly, they will keep initial performance longer, especially compared to Yokohama.
Someone posted here a CR test of tires with a substantial amount of miles, and Michelin was far ahead of everyone; Yokohoma lost most from initial performance.
I used Yokohama on track. They are OK tires, but they are not close to Michelin.
