Trying Lubegard Power Steering Additive

I seem to be on a Lubegard kick lately. After trying their red-bottled transmission additive and getting good results, I figured I'd give their PS additive a try to quiet a whiny remanufactured PS pump. Currently I'm running synthetic PSF in it, but it's still whining loudly. We'll see if it has any effect on the noise, which is my reason for using it.

Figured that I would wait a few months till another OCI and then put that in.

I've used the LG power steering supplement stuff in two units. Both units were running fine before, and I added the LG stuff after a fluid renewal. The stuff did make the steering noticeably easier, a surprise to me. I don't know how long it lasted, or if it might still be working and now I'm used to it.

I've used the ATF additive in an '05 Corolla(calls for DexIII) with success. The turning seemed a little stiff, it made it a bit easier.

This LG P/S addative converts the standard P/S fluid into HONDA P/S fluid and says so on the label. Or, you can just buy some Honda P/S fluid(any brand), I use Bardahl from W*M. Turkey baster out as much fluid as possible and add the Honda fluid in it's place. I have done this to GM PS units and it quieted down the noise quite well. Done it to many Alero's/GrandAm's and Firebirds including my own.

Update:

Finally added the Lubegard PS Protectant. After a few miles it did exactly what it said it would and quieted everything down. The steering feels good, a little less effort required to turn the wheel.

In the 5 miles I've driven on it, I'm happy. Another update after a few hundred miles on it will happen.

I've used Lubegard PSF additive in GM, Honda, Toyota and absolutely love it! Every time I've used it with recommended PS fluid from OEM. After multiple drain-refills, once fluid becomes clear I just add a bottle with the last refill. LG PSF additive worked for me every time. I was skeptical at first, but it indeed made PS unit noticeably quieter hot or cold in each vehicle I've put it in.

If my brother's 00 Olds Silhouette ever makes it down here I'll try the Honda Power Steering Fluid trick. The PS pump in that van whines quite loudly.

From my experience with various additives, Lubegard seems to have no bad additives, engine or transmission or power steering, and their prices are reasonable as well.

Update:

It's definitely quieted down the power steering. I hear the PS a little bit on colder days, and not at all when the engine's warm.

My verdict: It works as advertised.

Was this in your borther's Olds as you mentioned earlier?

No, it's in my Buick. The Olds I'll try the Honda Power Steering Fluid trick.

Both vehicles have remanufactured PS pumps.

Maybe a full flush/refill would help even further in the colder tempuratures, unless you already did a full flush/refill.

Most of the time when I used Honda P/S fluid in a GM P/S unit, all I ever did was a drain the resivior(turkey baster method) and refill. I would sometimes repeat this over a period of months. But the succuss on the first drain/refill was very good.

I put the power steering supplement into two systems that were running well hoping to extend the life. 190k miles on one, 112k miles on the other, both doing good. Syn ATF in both. I too noticed that the systems promptly operated with less wheel effort. I have no idea if the stuff is still working or has become depleted. Both systems have magnefine filters and both have bright red fluid remaining.
