Army can't run without supplies. Those trucks brought the supplies. The Red Ball Express was famous for gettin' it done, no matter what.
My dad was a truck driver/mechanic with 406 Fighter Group, 514th Squadron. He was pulled from that unit temporarily to drive in the Red Ball Express. He was very proud of his service and carried his honorable discharge in his wallet until he passed in ‘03. Patton had nothing but praise for the Red Ball.
 
Impressive letter for any company getting a thank you for their excellent products . I am referring to Stalin appreciation of Studebaker trucks supplied to Russia during World War II.
