Is there a mark on the flywheel to determine TDC? I usually don't have someone around to help me kick over the engine,etc....

You can ignore the compression readings, throttle closed makes it a wasted effort.

The mark for TDC is on the crank pulley. Line the notch in the pulley to the 0 on the timing marks. just use a 3/4" socket on the crank to turn the engine over.

So,do you mean that unless I do it with the throttle opened,it a wasted effort?

Yes.. But if you only have 35 psi closed, you have bigger things to worry about.

you can't do half of a test and expect to gain any reasonable insight from it. for your version of a compression test the cyls were not getting enough air to compress up to a reasonable reading.

Is your cam timing correct? with the crank pulley at 0 the dimple on the cam sprocket should be slightly off of 12 o'clock.

I double-checked the cam and it was 180 off! I know have had it moved but now i have to find my chiltons again to know which valves to adjust,etc...
