thats exactly it. you have to realize people in that area/ everywhere suck! you have to stay positive and keep an open happy outlook. its hard. heck im planning my wedding, 30 days away. and its making me realize how little i like people and how little you can count on them. even family sometimes. you just plain cannot except anything good from another human . you can hope and pray but cannot expect. just breathe deep walk around all these people and smile and tell yourself i am so much better than these idiots! that is exactly what i have been doing. works pretty well

I like Texas, the Stephenville or Deleon area is where I want to buy property and build a house.

I wouldn't say I'm depressed, I even saw a University shrink, He told me over and over "why don't other students come to me with these problems, The problem is within you" YET I have NEVER EVER had a problem with people except here. The shrink is an idiot. The reason other students don't have these problem IS THEY IN FACT ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM.

Seals, My scholarship was granted to me through a transfer essay that I typed up.

I have found that if I believe I am infallible I am the problem not others.

Since you said "down here" I suppose you are going to school in Collage Station? I was pretty much in the same situation; born and raised in a small city in the middle of nowhere then moved to our capital and got a governmental job. I only lasted 8 month before I started to realize I was about to have a complete mental meltdown since I had to deal on a day to day basis with superficial coworkers, a couple of bosses that didn't knew how to use a PC properly and people in general that drove expensive cars they didn't even afforded to fill up with gas. I gave all of that a big fat finger, moved back to my quiet little city, opened my own little business and couldn't be happier now. Now I look back and I appreciate the experience I gained in those 8 month and now I avoid a certain type of people like the plague.
Hope it all turns out OK for you and wish you best of luck.

It's life. Buck up and deal with it.

You harbor a lot of hatred and your rants make it clear that you have some issues. You fail to see the good side of your situation-it sounds like you're getting a free handout for school, and yet you still continue to whine and moan about everything else. Everyone around you is out to get you, everyone around you is worthless. Perhaps people simply don't care for that chip you have on your shoulder and prefer not to deal with you. If every word that comes out of your mouth is a negative one, you’ll be doing a great job of maintaining your miserable mood.

Blaming society is a mentally lazy cop out. People have to take responsibility for themselves and their own happiness and lot in life, The "blame society" mentality is the problem with much of society. Society is what it is and nothing you or I do will change it.

Your statement shows that it doesn't really matter who or what you blame, just so long as you’re clear that you aren’t to blame at all; you couldn’t possibly have any power to change the situation. You can point fingers and try to shift the blame, or you can man up, take personal responsibility for yourself, and deal with it.

While I agree with Pop's commentary, but regardless of the circumstances, this is a good place to post a gripe and a rant, and there is nothing wrong with that. I think that most will see a sweeping laziness, carelessness, sloppiness, and just general low class behavior coming over most everyone everywhere.

TX supposedly has had great growth in jobs in the last number of years. Ill bet most of those jobs arent the middle class mom, dad, 2.3 kids and the minivan in the white picket fenced home type of spots. They likely are jobs that draw a rougher crowd. Newspaper article recently stated about how many $100k factory jobs are unfilled because they arent in vogue. I know our schools around here are ranked in terms of percentage of the student body going on to 4 year college. So it turns out that the rougher crowd goes for the other jobs...

So you may have a rougher crowd, on top of which you have a general rejection of morals, a ton of people who think they "deserve" a certain lifestyle which they have had beat into them from TV, and then people who have found their ways around the system to do whatever they want, without care or concern for the effects. On top of that a ton of self centeredness, really no such thing as community outside of small town USA (most housing is now set up to not be conducive to this), and so you get a lot of disfunctional people.

It sucks but that seems to be the sad reality for this era. In many cases its hard to find true friends or co-workers you can really trust. Did you ever wonder why most people say they can only count their true friends on one hand and have a few fingers remaining? You might find moving away will only change the scenery, but not the way people behave. Good luck, hang in there!

I HAVE A SHOULDER INJURY THAT IS OVER A YEAR ONLY FROM BEING REAR ENDED THAT IS KEEPING ME FROM SLEEPING WELL! I GET MAYBE 3-4 HOURS OF SLEEP A NIGHT!

I hate living here. I hate being around these sorry people. I hate not being around people I can socialize with and trust. This TOWN SUCKS! I have NEVER EVER seen so much incompetence in my entire life. I had a friend come down who was going to drive me back from surgery say that she has never seen so many cold hearted incompetent ------ in her life.

If it wasn't for school I'd be outa here already.

I'm tired and hurting...sorry Life sucks right now where I'm at

I see a red flag here. You think its tough getting along with peers at college, wait till you use that education in a work force full of backstabbers and rats looking to get ahead. You will look back and realize it wasn't so bad. Your finding out what life is like out of the nest. Its a good lesson. If you can make it work there, you can fit in anywhere. A skill you will need moving forward in your career and personal life.

Seals, The issue is they are the "daddy's idiot types" Smoking weed, cutting class, busted for street racing, get drunk then have daddy buy them a new car after they wreck it, [censored] I grabbed a girl's backpack and pulled her back to keep her from getting run over crossing the road when an SUV was going 40mph. The only thing I got was [censored] at. I saved her life. Now, I will just turn my head for stuff like that.

I heard a kid in the library CHEWING out his dad, cussing him left and right because "daddy" didn't transfer money in his account and he overdrafted on a Dr Pepper. [censored]!

My surgery was rescheduled four times in two days, Is that normal? The doctor wouldn't even return my phone calls, is that normal? The clinic kept a $2100 in the desk drawer for two days and never even checked to see if the check had funds on it, is that normal? The clinic called my friend for the rescheduling s but had my number, is that normal?
My point is, this town is run SO poorly it's nuts. Waco was fine, Round Rock was fine, Temple was fine.
This place is bad, I can't wait to leave this sorry place.
I HAVE NEVER HAD ISSUES WITH PEOPLE UNTIL I MOVED HERE.
SHOOT, IT SOUNDS LIKE THEY REFUSED ME MY SURGERY, NEVER EVEN WERE GOING TO DO IT, IS THAT NORMAL?

Mix, I'm about to that point. This to not care about anyone but myself, don't hold doors open for people, stare at the guy in the wheelchair because he looks funny having a door slam repeatedly on him, don't say thank you, lie to people if it benefits me, steal-who cares right...More to come..stay tuned

This would be a fake front that would be in place just for survival. This would not be the real me.

DrDusty.....hang in there and do your best to try and learn from this situation. I don't think you are the problem, as some have suggested. Sounds to me that you are angry, disappointed, and frustrated. Depressed? Maybe a bit, but that's perfectly normal, given what you are dealing with. Society has and IS breaking down in most areas of the country. It's sad but true. People that go around being 'happy', while all around them anger and nastiness is rampant....they astound me. Happiness has a HUGE amount to do with your environment. Stick this out until you can get OUT of there. Remember how it was and use the experience as a tool in understanding the real world and what is important in a society. You'll be the better for all this someday.

As my Dad used to say: "Life is like a freight train, son. It'll run right over you if you let it."

Dad was right. Time to buck up and get tough, brother. It may be even harder in the next place. Adapt and overcome. Try not to focus on others and their issues, instead work on yourself. THAT you can change.

Best of luck...

Look out for yourself, because NOBODY else will. Optimism is a mental disorder.

Well said. It's a shame, but in the grand scheme of things, it's par for the course with humanity.

And if you do that you will be perpetuating what you say you are so against. You have to decide what is really important here. You aren't facing anything that everyone else hasn't also faced. The true meaning of a person is how they handle adversity. What are you REALLY about?

Stay positive and remember you won't spend the rest of your life in that arm pit of a city. Just knowing you are headed for a better future should make you feel better.

What does your wife say about the way you feel ?

JHZR2,

The unfortunate part is as you can see SO many folks replying to your post are telling you. "that a degenerate population and society is something you should get used to". Well I will not let these scum bags bring me down to their level, the only way society will recover is if others speak out when there is bad behavior, in fact I say the main reason why things have become so bad in the USA is because of the fact that today most people will just look the other way when bad or outrageous behavior is in progress. This is NOT the case in ALL other nations.

Probably the worst thing to happen to the USA is the imposition of the multicultural agenda, and the there is no right and wrong mentality of sociologists which has been communicated through out society in public schools, the media, (ESPECIALLY THE MEDIA) and other ways.

I say be vocal, VERY vocal when you see wrong. Of course don't get yourself in a physical altercation (unless anothers life is in danger) but speak up.

Antiqueshell - one of the best posts I have seen on this whole site much less this thread.
