trop artic oil

Has anyone in the Atlanta, GA., area seen any trop artic oil in this area. I have checked the Walmarts and Dollar Trees near me and have found nothing. Have bought plenty Pennzoil from Big Lots, but would like to add Trop artic to my stash. I bet Clark Howard would buy Pennzoil and Trop artic at these prices.

Not from the Peach State, but I'm seeing the same thing at Walmart here in Michigan. No Trop Arctic anywhere. I still have to check Dollar Tree and it's on my To Do list for this week.

Could be a regional brand distribution anomaly. If you find the "SM" versions of ConocoPhillips' other variants - 76, Conoco All Season, or Kendall GT-1 at attractive pricing, Terry posted he believes they're the same thing. Don't give up!

The Dollar Tree in Carbondale Illinois has 10/40, 10/30 SM versions of Trop Artic for $1 each.. A few Citgo qts (did'nt check visc.) for $1 as well.

Found out about this here and sure enough, SM 10w30 TropArtic blend was available at the local DollarTree for a buck a qt. I picked up enough for my daughter's Protege's next change, but I'm undecided as to which I'll use.

I've been using the Wally 5qt jugs of 10W30 Havoline for her '99 Protege and my sons '95 Alty (beater-231K). It appears the Havoline has a stouter additive package. I may use the beater for the test pig. I guess I've become comfortable with the Havoline and the 5qt jug brings it's price to a little over 1.25/qt.

I'll be following the TropArtic used oil analysis closely though.

Is the 5w30 SM as well? All the 5w30 and 10w30 I found at Walmart was SL. Haven't been to Dollar Tree yet though, but I was curious because everyone always mentions SM and 10w30 in the same sentance....

At the nearest Dollar Tree where I purchased 3 cases of 10w30, SM/GF-4 TropArtic Synthetic Blend is available in 5W-20, 5w30, and 10w30 if that's what you're asking. The 5W-X0's went on sale in very late 2004. The 10w30 wasn't introduced until early spring this year. When ConocoPhillips put out press releases last September that their upcoming SM motor oils would all be synthetic blends at no increase in pricing, the company may have inadvertently shot itself in the foot regarding pent-up demand - such is the marketing downside of "a better mousetrap". It's very possible some areas are still clearing out the older TropArtic SL/GF-3, non-synthetic blend oils. Supply will catch up with demand.

well guy's here in n.c. we have trop artic in the dollar stores,actually went today and bought me a case of the 10w30 for my 4.6 f150,should be good for the summer months maybe even year round.the best thing is the price 12 qrts for 12.00+tax

Just make sure everyone that you get the synthetic blend 10w30. Dollar Tree carries both TropArtic 10w30 synthetic blend and TropArtic conventional 10w30 at the same price. The stores in my area have them all mixed up, and while synthetic blend is apparent on the label, mistakes can be made...or is it just me???

The local walmart by me just recently started to carry the SL/GF-3 stuff. Hopefully the SM stuff will rollout soon, not bad at $1.16 a quart.

I haven't checked the big lots or dollar trees near me.

yup, the Tree had both dino and the synthetic blend 10w30. I picked around the shelves and found more than enough of the blend for me
