Interestingly i ordered that exact oil. And what arrived was very different. It now claims 15,000 miles not 20,000. and is only ILSAC GF-6 rated instead of ILSAC-GF 7. The label has changed a lot but still has the old label on amazon claiming 20k intervals or 2 years. Gonna have to get it tested.

I hate that I sang this in my head.

I don't trust anything from Triax. That deceitful marketing on the bottle is just the tip of their BS iceberg. One of their reps was on here trying to say oxidative thickening wasn't real and a lot of other nonsense.
 
Mmmmm now I’m afraid to put it in my car. Was gonna run extended intervals in a 2013 Prius C. Bought it because it was on sale and cheaper than the other extended drain oils. After I bought it I found the BS goin around 🤣 and it doesn’t instill confidence that the label is completely different from what Amazon lists as far as specs goes.
 
With how regulated engine oils usually are how the hell was this able to hit the shelves claiming it has certifications it doesn’t? claims to be Dexos 1 gen 3 certified but as far as GMs certified oil list is concerned…it is not.

Engine oils are not well regulated. API is essentially just an organization of company representatives, not much of an authoritative entity. They establish standards based on ILSAC recommendations and sell licenses, not much else. Their annual audit is just 3%, and the consequence for failing is little more than a slap on the wrist and a "do better next time" note. Licensed oils failing these audits isn't uncommon. Their audit in SE Asia a couple of years ago found that nearly half (IIRC, 48%) of the API licensed oils tested failed at least one test for certification. Even if you do get hit with a fine, it's likely a fraction of the profit made on said product. Beyond that, they may bar you from obtaining a license in the future which means nothing if you're already not adhering to it anyway.

Some people act as if API is this big powerful government bureaucracy that analyzes every quart of oil extensively and enforces standards with iron fist. It's nothing like that.

That's just it, it's not on the shelves. it's purchased directly from their site or from Amazon.
