A lot of questions keep coming up in regards to all the different synthetic offerings that now exist in the market. This article sort of sums it all up.

It's mostly marketing. Differentiating your product by making specialty oils - MaxLife - AFE etc. .....

I agree virtually no technical info of what attributes to look for in a motor oil that justify what synthetics offer.
The usual nonsense that GP III oils are not true synthetics.
Not a single mention on the latest tread by the OEMs to lighter oils grades or the high VI 0W-20 oils.

On balance just alot of brand name dropping marketing fluff.

The article was not meant to be a technical article. LOL. It's just showing you how synthetics are branching out and how they are all marketing their oils differently.

The more varieties an oil manufacturer has, the more shelf space. The more shelf space, the greater the market penetration.
