10 year old Halle, a precious little girl, came down with the flu early last week. By Thursday, she was in VCH (Vanderbilt Children's Hospital) with heart failure, needing a heart transplant.

Today she died.

Ignore the lackluster reporting from this station which leaves out a ton of info but at least here's some of her tragic story

Our whole community rallied around them, didn't matter if you knew them or not. You felt the sense of urgency and tragedy about the whole thing.

I couldn't imagine one day my daughter has a bad cold, the next she's in ICU with heart failure.

And if you ever think you have any problems in your life, no matter how awful, take a walk through a children's hospital. By the time you reach the other side, your problems will vanish solely by observing little children who did nothing but still have terrible cancers, deformations, etc.

RIP Halle.

That is so sad. It is terrible when anyone passes away unexpectedly, but with young children it hits me more. My 10 year old daughter had a similar situation with a young girl in her class this year. She had what looked to be like the flu this past winter and died a couple of days later. '
Tell your loved ones that you love them everyday and don't take life for granted. You just never know..

My condolences to Halle's family and friends.

Was she by any chance, vaccinated shortly prior?

Anyway, at times like this, I like to believe she's in a much better place than this.

You are so right about our own problems of the day or the hour or the bad week and think the world is ending. My son had to be placed in a christian mental hospital called Pine Rest in Grand Rapids Michigan about six weeks ago. My wife and I thought our world was shot and our rope was at the end. Through intense therapy and finding what is brain was not naturally producing he is home now, not perfect, but doing really well. We are so blessed. We thought things could not get any worse but there are much more tragic situations like this that happen so quickly to innocent children. May God bless this little girl and her family.

We've said a prayer for Halle and her family, for her to rest in peace and for her family to find peace and solace.

With our therapy dogs, my wife and I visit not only senior centers and other similar venues, but also visit a children's hospital. Each time we see the kids, with their incredible strength as they face their own often fatal health crisis, we're reminded what a gift life is. It encourages us to make the most of every moment we have, and not get caught up in the material things, but rather embrace every day as a gift, and make the most of it. We sometimes feel guilty because we often feel we receive more than we give, especially with the kids.

It encourages us to live a life that counts.

+1 for everything you just eloquently stated. Sigh... I guess the good dude giveth and he taketh away, although we can't always figure out why.

Very sad. Condolences to her family. Yes, life is precious and everyday is a gift.
