The short rubber lines that connect from the steel line to the cooler - is it normal 3/8 line you buy for fuel or some special line? thanks

I just got some for my cooler install at Autozone. It is like 2 bucks a foot, Worth the cash.

the only ones Ive seen are MB lines that last 30+ years and well over 200k. They are high quality wrapped rubber hose, sometimes with a metal outer jacket, I suppose in case they take a rock.

Just read the SAE number on the line you're considering. You can reference it on line. It will pretty much give the pressure/temp limits, as well as material compatibility

From the Gates website:

''Standard fuel and oil (SAE 30R7) hose is rated for
low-pressure applications at 50 psi working
pressure up to 3/8" size, and 35 psi for sizes over
3/8". This general-purpose hose contains a light
reinforcement, and the rubber materials can be any
compound that is suitable for fuel, oil and vapors.''

Transmission fluid should be less aggressive to rubber than ethanol containing gasoline. The regular stuff should be fine for low pressure lines. Yes, you can always hunt down and pay for something better, but it would be a waste of time. Why not go all the way with stainless steel braid over Teflon?

SAE J1532 and SAE J1019 are numbers to look for too. Those are trans cooler line spec's. 1019 being the better.

Agreed. You can even 'fancy up' the fuel line in ATF service by shielding it with wire-loom for added protection if you wish.
