I would like to change my transmission fluid and both filters on my 2006/Jeep.I don't do any towing or abuse the transmission. The transmission is the 545RFE with a 14qrt capacity.I have two ways I can do this.(1)Bring 14-16 qrts of Amsoil and 2 filters to AAMCO and let them do a complete service which includes a PowerPurge service.(2)I can use a MityVac and evacuate the fluid in the pan then drop the pan and replace both filter. Then I would refill with new fluid with the same amount that I took out.I could also then if I want disconnct the outbound line from the cooler(I can't find
the connection to the cooler)then flush with a clear plastic line the replace the amount purged from the flush.
Jeep themselves with their tranny service just drops the pan and replace both filters or replace one now and both later the repace lost fluid.Any opinions would be great.I have 63,500 on the transmission. Thanks Joe

You're from L.I., me too. Do yourself a favor and stay away from AAMCO, nuff said. Either do it yourself or bring it to someone you trust and supply the fluid. Just curious does your Jeep have a dipstick? My 08 has the tube with a plug on it, and no dipstick. They don't want the DIY'er servicing it. I only have 9500 miles on mine but when the time comes I'm considering getting a stick out of an older Jeep and make hot and cold marks on it, and service it myself. Hopefully someone will have figured out a work around to it. JMO

I'd imagine you'll need more than that to get a purge machine working and to do the job. I'd avoid aamco, but a purge then a filter drop is a good option, with amsoil in on the refill...

They don't make an ATF+4 specific fluid, they make a universal fluid that they say works for transmissions needing ATF+4

I would stick to ATF+4 fluid, and stay away from the Universal Fluid. Maybe I'm totally wrong here but there is something about the one size fits most/or all mentality that I'm not comfortable with.
