Just checking if this is legit or a counterfeit part. I bought a transmission filter on Rockauto labeled as a Motorcraft filter. Then it came in it arrived in a standard USPS mail bag (no motorcraft bag) and the part was stamped Filtran Made in Mexico. I'm a bit suspicious about this one and am thinking of sending this back for a refund.. but wanted to check on its legitimacy. Anyone know if this is a bona-fide part by Motorcraft?

Filtran MicroFelt Transmission Fluid Filter, SAE PA66-GF33 ...

Yes, Filtran makes transmission filters for Ford vehicles, including those for specific models like the Ford Crown Victoria and various Mustang, Thunderbird, and Lincoln models. The company's auto filtration technology is also used in some Ford and GM 10-speed transmissions.

Thank you all for quick reply. It's part FT105 for a 4r70w transmission in a 2003 F150. With the 4.6

Since the 4.6 was in the crown vic it may be a legit part...I just don't like the fact no packaging or papers came with it. Makes me suspicious. Your help is appreciated

I recall a couple Motorcraft AT filters having the name Filtran on them. I believe your filter is legit.

That should be your part number. I went to our transmission filter bin and snapped some pics. The F6AZ-7A098-A has come in a bag for a while now. Spun it around inside the bag and it also says Filtran. This came direct from Ford's Ontario (Rancho Cucamonga) HVC to us.

Lots of OEM filters made by Filtran
Yep. OE Toyota for FWD/AWD models is a Filtran USA. Filtran has subsidiaries in Germany and China too.

And if you are under general anesthesia at the hospital or scuba dive with a closed-circuit rebreather, Filtran’s parent company(Filtration Group) more than likely made the soda-lime CO2 adsorbent for the scrubber within that anesthesia machine/rebreather.

Thank you all for your replies and thank you BDCardinal for sending the pics. That is the same unit that was sent (minus the packaging). This looks to be a legit purchase...like I said I have not had anything sent minus the packaging. I appreciate it. I feel ad though I can use this with confidence. Thanks again!

John

UPDATE:

I dropped and drained the pan and saw that it had not been done: plug still in the pan.

The filter in the transmission was a filtran (made in USA). So it is the OEM for this vehicle
