Hi,
LONG VERSION: I bought a used car recently and realized that the oil was overfilled. According to the CarFax, an oil change was done in July, so I didn't want to change it. So I bought an oil evacuation pump (Mityvac 7400, which I was planning to buy anyway) to take out the excess. I ended up taking away too much, so I just poured some of the same (used) oil back in the crank case. Now I got to thinking if there is some Chemistry-related issue that I've forgotten about that would make this a bad idea. This was the first use of the Mityvac as far as I can tell, but I suppose there is a small possibility that it was bought and returned (and cleaned very well!)
SHORT VERSION: is it safe to pour used oil from a clean container back into the crank case, or should I just go ahead and change the oil to be safe?
Thanks!
