Hey guys, I just bought a 10,000GVW trans cooler for my car and I have a question. First off, my car is a 92 Chevy Lumina with a 4T60 (T = Trash). Would this cooler be sufficient to handle the entire cooling job for the transmission or should I route the fluid through the radiator first? Reason I ask is that the radiator cooler is on the same side of the radiator as the incoming coolant from the engine. I can't see how that really cools much of anything as the hot coolant hits the cooler right as the fluid is returning to the trans. Currently, I don't "hot-rod" the car, don't tow anything and very seldom does anyone other than myself ride in the car. Thanks for the suggestions.

Are you 100% certain of that? Every in-tank cooler I have ever seen, is in the outlet side of the radiator.
I do not consider that cooler to be up to the task of handling the cooling by itself. Even with very large coolers, I still recommend that the in-tank cooler be mounted in series before the external cooler.
I put a 24,000 GVW cooler on my '93 Olds Ciera with a 3T40(Talk about trash) behind a 3.3V6. I still put it in line with the radiator cooler. That transmission is still shifting like new with 170k on it. The 3T40 makes a 4T60 look like a TurboHydramatic-400...
The 3T40 had a max torque of 190 and in the Ciera, had an engine putting out 185. Not the best for transmission life...
4T60 can handle 280, and, depending on your engine, you are putting up to 215 into it.
My 4L60E in my Impala can handle 360, and I'm probably putting somewhere above that number in...
Yeah the radiator cooler is on the inlet side of the radiator. The upper steel pipe turns down and the bows out to miss the upper hose. I guess I could loose the A/C and use the condenser as my cooler.
