Trans cooler line adaptors

Looking around for compression to NPT fittings (or even a compression to barb) to get my trans cooler/filter lines up to my standards. Seems most of the units I see are for copper piping only. Any idea on what to use for a steel line? Not sure if its galvanized or whatnot, but it doesn't show any rust after soem Michigan salt-winters.

Do you have room to use a flaring tool kit after cutting the lines for your cooler ?
I didn't even do that much - but did not have the room to flare post cut ...

I should post a pic. I cut down a factory line to plug into the quick connects, but it looks sloppy and resulted in a lot of movement in the cooler hoses. I'll have to look if the send/return lines are spaced enough to allow a flare tool- but I really like the idea of a compression adaptor for some reason. Probably because it won't work.

Although you do not specify what size you need, I would try eBay an4 or an6 fitting, also search npt to compression fittings.

I would use either steel to steel or stainless or brass plumbing fittings; I would NOT use aluminum to steel...They expand and contract when exposed to heat at such different rates I wouldn't trust the connections not to work loose.

What about using some NiCopp brake line and brass compression fittings?

They get wormy once you cut - I always use some split electrical sleeve material - and some zip ties to secure the transition from rigid to flexible hose ...
I have gone down 20 miles of beat up dirt road like that for many years -
OK to have it somewhat compliant ... If controlled...

Necro-thread bump. My rubber hose is finally starting to weep a little ATF where its clamped onto the cut down steel line. Probably time to think about doing this correctly.

You are talking about the crimped end on a pressure hose? If so you could take it to a shop to have it re-crimped or rebuilt - many LAP stores do that - I know of Napa's, O'reillys, that do, e.g.

I've had a hose come off a non flared steel hose, lost the fluid fast.

No, I installed a trans cooler on my 2011 but instead of purchasing new, expensive hard lines I just cut off the factory crimped ends and ran a oil hose between the cooler and the return line. It was pretty stout steel so I didn't try to crimp it, just double hose clamped it- I figure the pressure drop across a trans oil cooler as well as an in-line remote filter would help prevent any unwanted separation of lines. Anyways, probably just a pin hole wearing into the hose from the screw clamps.

Now, to find a compression adapter that I can use to install a barb end...

Why not flare the cut ends you have? A flare plus two fuel injection clamps should be skookum.

I put a "Bubble" on the end of the hard line with a Double Flaring Tools by just doing the first stage, Use good TOC/PS rated hose!,......Then use Ear Clamps like these......
