When I bought my 2004 Accord automatic w/ 4cyl
I didn't check the trans oil till 5000 miles was up (I know shame on me). Well I found it was overfilled according to the dipstick mark by maybe 1 qt. I had taken it to Atlanta from the northeast on a trip in that 5000 miles. There's been no foaming or anything like that but I did drain off about half a quart thinking that maybe the overfilling was done intentionally at the factory and removing a half qt would be ok. So now it's maybe half a quart or so overfilled according to the dipstick mark. What should I do? It came this way (1 qt over) from the factory.
Drain another half qt?

Nice new ride.
Some Hondas ask you to check the ATF level with engine off at operating temperature. This is unlike most other brands. Or check with the owners manual the exact way and make sure you do it that way. Don't want to waste that super expensive Z1 ATF.
By the way, no shame in not checking the ATF level for 5000 miles. The factory should have done it right but it pays to verify.

Yeah, your Accord says to have the engine at normal operating temp, shift through the gears, kill the car, and check the fluid level. Make sure you are checking it on a level surface.
