So I received a speeding citation this morning and I'm wondering if I should do the traffic school....or save it in case I really need it later, although I hope my good driving record continues.

So, there are no other points at all and this citation will in no way effect a suspension or loss of driving license.

And therein lies the question, should I just pay the fine and forget about it or will my insurance still use it vs me, even though I have a clean driving record.(besides this one)

thanks

Call a lawyer in your state. You will get spammed by them in the next week or two, so you have plenty of options.

If you aren't a reckless driver that gets citations on a regular, you should go ahead and do the traffic school. I did this once when I got a citation out of state. Took the class, presented my certificate to the court and went on about my way, never to be heard from again.

Your policy ought to indicate the "points system" in use, if any. The company I use is only interested in tickets which could result in a suspension.

qdeezie,

do you present the certificate and pay the fine at the same time?

Just have the money in pocket. Cash, preferably. The time I had to do it, I was in a courthouse in Backwoodsville, USA and I presented the certificate and paid the fine in cash since I didn't see any other means of them taking money (judging by the appearance of the town and how rural it was).

Here in Florida I believe you can do 5 traffic schools in a lifetime. And not more than once in a year.

I did the online "comedy" traffic school. Not only did I laugh a good bit at the silly stuff, but I learned a few laws that I did not know. It was actually worth it in a weird kind of way.

And I retained my "no points" status on my drivers license. My insurance remained the same too.
