I have noticed Discount/America's Tire now add this on to your cart for $7.50 per wheel. You can remove the item if you want. What are the thoughts on this? Since the TPMS only been mainstream for a few years. Do you think Discount is ahead of the game with this product, or just another nickel and dime item for them?

I don't have anything to say bad about America's Tire. I have bought 5 sets of tires from them in the last 4 years. They always treated me great.

a lot of the OEMs don't want you to reuse the nut and valve core. when you let air out you cannot just take the core out, you have to relieve pressure by pressing it in.

I know when I did tires with TPMS I always unbolted it and pushed it in. Then changed the tire and bolted it back on with new nut, seal and valve core AFTER I got the tire on the rim.. Always used a torque wrench and a clicker valve core tool. Before I started doing this I broke a sensor putting a tire on, and that was one to many for me. Also had a customer come in with custom shiny caps on his sensors. They had corroded to the sensor and all 4 sensors broke. I think that was an extra $250 right there. The only time I broke my rule was on an '08 BMW, we didnt have replacement packs and he needed tires. The aggressive alignment killed the inside of the directional tires he had. Belts showing. So I put them on with extra care. I figured the seal is only a year old anyway.

I see techs at work pull valve cores out to initialize the TPMS during PDI, Honda says it's OK to do this, even though they strongly suggest a bleeder-valve type pressure gauge.
