I have a 97 Chevy Astro Van. It has a large plate type Hayden AT cooler I connected after the factory radiator cooler. It has a factory engine oil cooler piped into the radiator.
I would like to install the MotorGuard filter on both the engine and transmission. Has anyone done so on these vans? If so, where did they put the engine oil filter? Since the engine already has an adaptor for routing the oil to the cooler I would expect I should be able to tap into the pressure side to go to the MotorGuard.
On the transmission side, Ralph has mentioned using a PermaCool sandwich adaptor. I'm not sure how this would be connected unless the pressure line would be connected to an external filter mount and the sandwich adaptor connects to that mound. Because of the tight engine area, I'm not sure where an appropiate area to mount the transmission filter would be. I would expect it doesn't make much difference if the filter is not in the upright position during operation. If that's true, then it's a matter of placing the housing where it can be drained easily then separated for servicing without making too big of a mess.
On the fuel filtering side, the van needs to have a constant 60 psi for the van to start and I believe it needs a constant > 56 psi to run. Is this going to be a problem with the MotorGuard.
Thanks much for help. I haven't purchased the filters yet. I'm in the planning stage.
