Toyota Value Brand Brake Pads

I see that Toyota now sells "Value" Brake pads for about half the cost of OEM plus the Value pad kit includes shims. I talked with several dealer parts departments and no one knew the differences between OEM and Value other than OEM was better. Anyone know anything about the Toyota Value pads and/or have them on your car? Do you like them?

I believe Advics is a partnership among a few Toyota OEM suppliers (Aisin, Denso and Sumitomo). Advics also come with a shim kit. Do you think these Toyota Value Brand are re-boxed Advics?

I suppose if you got the part number for their Value Line brake pads, and look for similar numbers on other brake pads, you might find the answer you are looking for.

Akebono, Denso, and Advics may have their part numbers in a major parts store catalog, but I never see Sumitomo or other smaller brands in catalogs with part numbers written on them.

Ever look on the package and find the country of origin? Often the higher end pads come from the USA or Japan. Some others come from European countries. Discount pads usually come from India or China.

We use Akeebono pro act pads at work and they are by far the best we have ever used I would bypass toyota and gothe pro act route you will be happy i'm sure.

I recently did a brake job on my 2008 Toyota RAV4 V6. All of the OE parts were cast with 'Advic' stamps. I did not, however, replace the parts with Toyota parts. I went with Akebono pads after reading stellar reviews. After about 500 miles we have no complaints, as they have been performing flawlessly.
