hey what oil should i run in this car

i picked up the car from the dealership used with 65000km on it with nothing but factory oils changes

he went 8000 sometime 9000km between oils changes on factory Toyota oil and filter

what oil should i be running in this car stick with factory and change every 8000 km ?
or run a better oil/ filter combo thanks guys

That was the earlier 3.0 sludge motor .I hope they fixed it. I have owned 2 with no problems. I ran full synthetic either coastal (wpp) or mobil 1 5w30 from 65000 and 72000 miles when i bought them from my father-in-law.I had each till 130000+ and no problems . I used to run the oil 1 year ,but change the filters every 6 months champ labs bosch filters. occasionally i would use b-g moa in the oil and lucas ucl in the gas. I ran the oil about 10-15000 miles just to see if i could. It also gave me about an extra 1 mpg. worked out fine.
you should plan on 6-8000 miles on the oil. Sludge will only form if their is moisture from short trips in the oil or it breaks down.
You could run m-1 extended pp, or ultra if you want some extra cleaning too. that motor is known to run 250000 miles with no major problems according to my dealer service writer. Just have the timing belt done at 60000 miles and the timing belt/ water pump done at 120-130000. I would have had the dealer done it before u bought it.

I do not believe the 3MZ is sludge prone.

From my experience with one of my friends' 2004 Sienna, it performs best with a 5w30 on the lower end of the viscosity range.

Not sure what kind of service you will put it to, but in general a conventional 5w30 twice a year, or quality synthetic once a year should work very well.

Your choices (PYB or M1) are both very good for this application.

If you use conventional oil and change it twice a year, you could probably use that WIX or OEM filter for two OCIs (the entire year).

Well, I might as well chime in before anyone else and suggest Toyota's own 0w20 for this vehicle. You don't say what year the vehicle is, but 5w20 was back spec'd for this engine some time ago, and my local Toyota dealer confirmed that the 0w20 was approved for the engine in my 2006 Rx400h, which is based on the 3mzfe

rcy, I've suspected that myself too. If the vehicle were mine I would have tried 5w-20 in it, but since it belongs to someone else I am not about to put in any viscosity different from what is printed in plain view on the fill cap and manual.

The 3MZ is probably my favorite Toyota engine of the past 10 years. Keep in mind that I've never owned a Toyota, I have that opinion from driving, servicing, and reading about other people's Toyotas.

8000km is Kilometers....not miles.
I have a 2003 Sienna, different motor.
I have a Wix filter on mine right now......a longer version 51516 instead of 51348....otherwise identical....and easily fits.
The 3.3L uses the SAME filter as the 3.0L on mine.
Wix is the same filter as the Napa Gold.
The Toyota Denso filter is also a well respected filter.
They started using a cartrige filter in 2008 with the 3.5L motor, Wix number 57047

I think Napa adds a "1" in front of the Wix number in their numbering system.

I am partial to synthetic oil, and the Mobil 1 is a good oil, easy to find.
At least in the USA, they carry it at Wal-mart for a very good price.
I know you have Walmart in Canada, but don't know if they carry the same oil line and pricing.....but worth a check.

my model year is a 2006 last model with the 3.3 before they changed to the 3.5. I drive 31 000km to work a year

plus pleasure driving so i would say 40 000km a year should i use PP to get all the gunk deposits out from the engine? the baffle screen has caked on oil to it... i took it to Toyota dealer and they said it was normal for this type on engine.. they say oil splashes out under the baffle and tend to sit the can get caked on.
i do 80% hwy driving 20% city
