Toyota Oil

I have a 2006 Toyota Avalon with 7000 mi. The dealer has done 2 OCI' so far at 2500 and 5000 mi. I am considering letting them do all changes thru the warrenty because they swear that they use a hand torque wrench to rotate the tires. I have had it up to HERE with tire dealers who give a high school dropout a big impact wrench and says he is a tire technician. Is the 10000 mile change too early for a used oil analysis to determine if the Toyota oil is doing the job?

are they using toyota oil? usually they will use bulk oil that mostly made by other oil company.

Its never too early to do a used oil analysis. You need a base to start with so i would get a used oil analysis to see how things are progressing. BTW, Toyota uses Mobil Clean as their factory fill but different dealers use different oil unless they use "toyota oil" which is repackaged Mobil.

Yup. I'll bet you are getting Castrol GTX 5w30.

I just had my first free oil change on my 06 Tacoma, and the dealership filled it with bulk 10w30. I asked what brand and the service rep said Citgo.

Does your 06 Tacoma spec 5w-20?

No, the manual calls for 5w30. It says 10w30 can be used in a pinch but to change it back to 5w30 at the next oil change. In my warm climate it probably won't make much difference over the course of one OCI but I would feel much better if they followed their own recommendations.
