Another reason I work from home. Less germy door handles to touch.

I have gotten all the vaccines that are available except the newest shingles vaccine. I have had shingles and the first shingles vaccine so doctor said it was not necessary but would not hurt.

Like the flu, hand washing is very helpful.

oops...

It's definitely going to have an impact on supply chains, since a lot of stuff comes from China. No one knows the extent of it, obviously, but pretending there won't be a significant impact is just foolish. Personally, I don't see a Mad Max scenario, but I expect that your phone and prescription drugs are going to cost a little more as mfg's shift around to source stuff from elsewhere.

Hyundai is stopping production in Korea due to supply chain problems. Honda and Mitsubishi are cutting production due to the same.

Egads, all the more reason to stock up on motor oil. And filters too!

I actually have a stock pile of Toyotas. (3) in the driveway now....

The fact is that almost every value added product that we see made today has at least SOME parts made in China, usually discrete electronic components, and the like, even if the bulk of the product is made somewhere else, very few of these parts are made anywhere else in the world today...

This is going to be DEVASTATING to most businesses at the very least.

At the rate this virus is progressing and the Chinese cannot seem to get it contained it could be many months before you start to see any factories start operating again, if at all. Not being dramatic many experts are saying the same thing now.

Seriously? So stupid.

what's stupid about it? China is a pretty important market to a lot of those companies. This is not some sort of "fake news". It's absolutely going to have a significant financial impact, and we will absolutely feel a ripple effect here even if the virus itself doesn't spread here. Keep you head in the sand if you like...

Our National Guard training base at Ashland,Nebraska will receive a plane load of Americans from China this Saturday. Plan is to take them off the plane in an out of the way parking ramp at Eppley in Omaha and bus them to the base without going through the terminal. That base was totally inundated with flood water last March. New construction now sits about five feet off the ground on piers.
