Take my 2023 Rav4 Hybrid XSE that I bought brand new -- delivery 8/17/2023 into dealership for Toyota Care. The Rav4 had 24,438 miles as I pulled into the bay. Notice on my way home that the paperwork does not clarify oil change but it does have tire rotation marked and billed. So I come home and put it up on the Rhino Ramps. Take the cover plate off and there is the Fram Endurance oil filter I installed when I did my own 20K oil change. I call them and speak directly to the adviser who took my keys and brought my paperwork out. He replies no you didnt get you oil changed, you are at 25K miles. I said -- clearly you are not looking at the paperwork I signed that you personally gave me. The paperwork states, 24,438 miles. Then I said, under Toyota Care I have 2 free oil changes up to 25K miles or 24 months. He says, thats not how it works. Now I am waiting for the manger of the department to call me back. How many other people has this crew did this too???? Advisor clearly needs trained/coached immediately!!!! Hence, I am not leasing this vehicle -- I put 20% down when I took delivery.. Note: I did my own personal oil changes at 900 miles/4900 miles/Toyota Care at 10K/15K and 20K. Which I mentioned to the advisor about because I dont feel comfortable with 10K oil changes.

I think it goes like this.

Service every 5,000 Miles which is basically a tire rotation.
Oil Change every 10,000 miles.

So at 25,000 miles in his world you would just need a tire rotation.

You're entitled to 2 oil changes, whenever you "get" them I cant comment on.

Why bother monkeying around with the dealership (obviously this has completely rocked your world)? I get that money is a challenge for you but your time has to be worth something. Its the easiest car ever to change the oil on and Pennsylvania has likely Dethawed out by now. Just one guys opinion.

Dealer is going to explain this all to you. Its in the care manual you received when you purchased - not leased - the car.

Call toyota if you feel so outraged!!!!

The advisor needs trained better. When you spend 40 some grand on a brand new vehicle. You would "hope" they understand the Toyota Care "completely." Just glad I climbed under and looked.

I read the small print on Mitsubishi's free maintenance program.
If you don't get the first oil change done by 12k miles the program is void even if you were doing it...

Nothing to do with the OPs issue but just noting it.

Is this the ant hill you're going to die on? Its pitiful man. Go look at your customer care booklet. What do you expect they do different? You dont understand how the maintenance works.

Again, if you're able to get them to change the oil at any time (you get 2 changes) then great. Otherwise, they have a ledge to stand on in saying at 25,000 miles its not due.

They probably have it hard-coded into the system to do an oil change at 10k and 20k. If you are buddy-buddy perhaps you could have those two free changes whenever--but I could easily see them being "unable" to do it at 5, 15 and 25k. Computer doesn't say to do it, therefore... not doing it.

Last new Toyota we bought, it didn't go back for the free care.

Don't feel too bad, my ToyotaCare experience was one damaged air filter (destroyed, left a flap hanging out), one time they said they changed the oil but did not. Tried to dance there way out of "you didn't need it". I said look at the page in the book. And twice they significantly over-filled - by like a quart.

I agree its not worth the trouble. Not sure why I kept going. I was happy when the warranty ran out.

Did you ask for the oil change or not? It sounds like you just assumed they'd do it.
I asked for my 2nd Toyota Care service. Like I asked for my first 10K Toyota Care service... I have -- 2 years/24 months or up to 25K miles for this second service under Toyota Care.

Why do people even bother with this “free” service? Especially if you DIY between their 10k intervals? The hassle alone and the possibility of a screw up and playing games would be enough for me to skip all of that and just do my own changes.
Yeah, and if it's a Hyundai dealer and you have a high performance "N Series turbo " car there is a very very high chance you will get 5w-20 Bulk Oil, just not worth it.
