I see a few around here..never talked to the owners so not sure what it cost to have them imported....definitely be cool overlanding rig.

Because western drivers see their vehicles as social media interface centres instead of transportation. It’s amazing how far you have to dig into manufacturers websites to get technical specifications but all the millennials are happily dancing to the giant screened dashboards on the main page.

A few months back, I posted a thread, asking what happened to the mini-truck. The answer that came back, is that CAFE forces small trucks into a bucket, which demands unreasonable mpg, thus the OEM's don't even try.

Personally, I'm IN for a simple, small truck, manual transmission, 2.5L, or so. Bonus points for 6' bed.

Yes.....more emphasis on tech than anything else.

If those were available in the US for the right price, they wouldn't be able to keep them in stock, so then you'd have the old supply/demand thing going on. They'd be priced out of sight.

This is incorrect. The millennials realize that the tech in their phone is years ahead of whatever the car screen offers.

The people that want the big screen are old fogies who think navigation is still high tech - even though google maps with real time traffic is superior.

How much would a similar 4-door dump truck thing be over here?

And, the one pictured is a classic Toyota, so among the best trucks ever :D
I think you're buying a cab/chassis with no bed and nothing about dumping.

edit: the 4 door truck ute with a "tray" is around $60k USD.

They wouldn't sell here as much as we would like to think they would. The first picture in the original post is about $61,000 USD. Most would just buy a full size pickup and say it was too expensive and the 2.8L diesel too underpowered.

we have the most boring automotive market on planet Earth. it's all the same stuff year after year after year. the same boring lifeless colors. there is no variety. i am just coming back from Chile. it was an explosion of colors, of hundred of various brands and an almost infinite variety of models. the North American Automotive market is a prison. it's depressing.

I like the 21st century. Independent air bag suspension, comfort, sport mode, active ride, active roll. Why would I want to go backwards?
