This came off of my 2022 Tundra 3.4TT that recently had a new long block installed under recall. This was the factory filter with 795 miles on this OCI.

These filters, I think still Denso made, all look pretty well built. I'm still not a huge fan of the cartridge oil filter in a can approach Toyota takes. I have a Camry with a very similar, albeit much smaller, filter.

Plan to stick with OEM or switch over to something aftermarket? Thanks for the C&P

Murky, thanks for comment!

They are still made by Denso, but I believe a couple different origins. The 10010 is made in Japan. I’m not sure what I think of the cartridge in a can style but overall it seems to be a quality filter and I like the fact that it has a silicone anti-drain back valve. I’ll be sticking with these at least while under warranty, and maybe beyond because my local dealer sells them for $2-$3 less than I see them online. They also throw in the crush washers for free with the filters.

For size of the filter I think the pictures are deceiving. It’s pretty small, according to Fram it crosses over to a PH4967.

I've had two of the OEM Toyota filters on my Camry since owning, all very good quality, I can agree with you there. I'll have to check the OEM filter on my Camry after this OCI (about 3k miles to go) and see if it also has a silicone ADBV. My local dealer also has them very cheap, I'm surprised they offer them for such a low price. They also offer TGMO 0w16 that I pickup while I'm there for $5-7/quart.

The only thing I was with the filters is better filtration. Toyota loves oil flow or oil purity.

Glad to see you're happy with the filter, hopefully all the manufacturing issues are fixed with the engine. I would love a new Tundra one of these days (decades) in the future.

If it was wicked dry probably would've seen some metal flecks. These are interesting filters. How do you feel about Toyota after this recall?

I have the cartridge/element wrapped in paper towels to dry out and can post that once I get it cut.

As far as the recall and Toyota I’m cautiously optimistic and happy that Toyota is addressing the issue. Hopefully they’ll expand the recall to cover the folks that have the iForce Max/hybrid setup and those with trucks outside the recall range. At the end of the day any manufacturer can have issues it’s how they address them that matters. If Toyota has genuinely fixed the issue and made things right with customers I see no reason to complain.

Might as well have a good attitude about it. I just worry about the small stuff. Did they do everything right on installation that won't cause problems down the road. Sometimes we just have to cross our fingers I suppose. Glad to hear they fixed you up though.
